International Children's Academy is a small, spiritual school committed to communication, creativity, collaboration and critical thinking among students and teachers. This teacher is a member of the school community and reports to the Head of School.

Hours for this job are approximately 25 hours per week and include the teaching and prepwork for four sections of Hebrew & Judaic Studies, Monday- Friday. Staff meetings will take place on a weekday afternoon from 3:30-5:00pm and are mandatory. In addition four, half day curriculum review sessions.

Specific areas of responsibility include:

Classroom Instruction

Modern Hebrew language instruction from PS-2nd grade
Creating a rigorous learning environment with high expectations and appropriate support for all students
Planning, preparing and delivering instruction that follows the curriculum adopted by the school
Differentiate curriculum to include individualized and small group instruction, manipulatives, art, drama, hands-on activities and other strategies
Promote critical thinking through inquiry, problem solving and reflection
Use relevant technology and Project-Based Learning to support instruction
Assigning homework that meaningfully supplements classroom instruction

Classroom Environment
Employ classroom routines, procedures, norms, and supports for positive behavior
Follow the school-wide norms for classroom environments and bulletin boards
Hang new student work on bulletin boards at least once/month
Collaborate with Head of School and other teachers to meet the social/emotional needs of students
Prepare an emergency substitute folder, with all necessary academic and procedural information, to be used only when it is physically impossible for you to prepare lesson plans, to be housed in the school office (to be submitted by October 1st of each year)

School Environment
Promote social development and responsibility within a caring community where each student is treated fairly and respectfully
Supervise students and facilitate activities during recess
Enforce the school-wide norms for recess, lunch, hallways and shared spaces
Assist with tefillah (prayer services), acting as a role model for the students
Participate meaningfully in the school community
Arrive on time to staff meetings, classes (to drop off or pick up students), and school events
Act as “greeter” in the morning (drop-off or in parking lot) as assigned (7:45-8:05) a.m.
Work authentically with colleagues
Attend school events, including: orientation and school professional development days, Back to School Night, Graduations, and any relevant admissions event.

Assessment
Collect and analyze assessment data to inform instruction
Review data, both individually and with colleagues, to monitor student learning
Use assessment data to plan, differentiate and modify instruction
Complete assessments by the calendared date, include in the assessment portfolio, and provide the results to the appropriate administrator
Share electronic portfolios with parents and other stakeholders
Provide feedback on classwork, homework, tests and assignments
Prepare report cards three times/year by the deadline indicated by the HOS
Communicate with HOS when assessments indicate student progress should be monitored (for either acceleration or challenges)

Parent Communication
Provide weekly updates for inclusion in the newsletter
Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students’ progress and interpret the school program
Proactively communicate with parents about assignments, projects and class expectations
Maintain a positive, warm and caring demeanor
Plan and facilitate classroom activities to engage parents, such as writing celebrations,
